Using a Tandy CoCo Joystick on a Dragon 32/64 & Loading .CAS Files from a Phone
The Dragon 32/64 (5-pin 240° DIN) and Tandy Color Computer 1/2/3 (6-pin 240° DIN) share the exact same pin assignments on Pins 1 through 5 for their analogue joysticks (with CoCo Pin 6 adding a second fire button for the CoCo 3). Even better, the 5-pin 180° DIN cassette port on the Dragon, CoCo 1/2/3, and Z80 TRS-80 Model I/III/4 all use the same standard audio/motor pins!
- Using a 6-Pin CoCo Joystick on a 5-Pin Dragon: Because Pins 1–5 are identical in layout and function, you can either build a 1-to-1 Pin 1–5 adapter or carefully remove the unused center Pin 6 from a spare CoCo plug.
- Loading .CAS / .WAV Files from a Smartphone/PC: Wire Tape DIN Pin 4 (Audio In) to the Tip of a 3.5mm plug and Pin 2 (GND) to the Sleeve. Set PC/Phone volume to ~65–75% and type CLOAD (or CLOADM).
