Building a Safe C16 / Plus/4 Joystick & C2N Datasette Adapter
To fit two joystick ports and a cassette port onto the tiny C116 PCB, Commodore replaced the standard DB9 and 6-finger edge connectors with 8-pin Mini-DIN (Joystick 1 & 2) and 7-pin Mini-DIN (1531 Datasette) sockets across the C16, C116, and Plus/4.
- Joystick Adapter: Wire Mini-DIN-8 Pins 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 to DB9 Male Pins 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, and wire Mini-DIN-8 Pin 5 (/JOY SELECT) to DB9 Male Pin 8!
- 1530 C2N-to-Plus/4 Cassette Adapter: Map Mini-DIN-7 Pins 1 through 6 directly in order (1->1/A GND, 2->2/B +5V, 3->3/C Motor, 4->4/D Read, 5->5/E Write, 6->6/F Sense) to a 6-pin 0.156" male PCB finger tab.
