Atari 2600 (VCS) & Atari 7800
Atari 2600 (Six-Switch / 4-Switch Rev 16) & Atari 7800 (CO25233) — MOS 6507 + TIA + 6532 RIOT & 6502C SALLY + MARIA consoles
Complete Diagnostic Flowchart: Capacitive Load, ESR & Power Rail Ripple Diagnostic Tree (Universal Retro Mainboards (C64, Amiga, ZX Spectrum, Game Gear, Consoles))
Summary
The Atari 2600 has a remarkably simple capacitor count: a main 2200 uF 16V axial reservoir capacitor (C201), a 4.7 uF axial reset/regulator capacitor, and two critical green/silver Mylar/polystyrene 'chiclet' film capacitors (820 pF / 470 pF) in the TIA audio and color delay circuits that drift and cause black-and-white video.

Safety & Warnings
Atari 2600 uses a 3.5mm Tip-Positive 9V DC mono plug!
Always plug the 3.5mm power jack into the console BEFORE plugging the wall wart into the mains socket so the tip does not momentarily short inside the jack barrel.
Is This Your Board?
- Atari 2600 4-Switch boards are marked C015519 (Rev 1-16); 6-Switch boards use a separate switchboard and motherboard.
- Atari 7800 mainboard is marked C025233.
Verified rows are agreed by two or more independent sources. Check rows are revision-dependent or single-sourced — confirm the value against your own board before ordering.

Extra Parts (not failure items)
These are not electrolytic recap candidates. They are listed because the kit vendors include them for a known modification or fix — do not replace them as part of a routine recap.
