Step-by-Step Amiga DB23 to RGB SCART / OSSC / RetroTINK Wiring
Every classic Commodore Amiga (A1000, A500, A500+, A600, A1200, A2000, A3000, A4000, CDTV) outputs native 15.625 kHz (PAL) / 15.734 kHz (NTSC) 0.7 Vpp Analog RGB from the rear 23-pin D-Sub male connector. Because genuine 23-pin female solder cups are rare, many builders neatly trim 2 pins off one end of a common DB25 female connector.
- Analog RGB Lines: Wire DB23 Pin 3 (Red) to SCART Pin 15, DB23 Pin 4 (Green) to SCART Pin 11, and DB23 Pin 5 (Blue) to SCART Pin 7 using individual 75 Ω shielded coax cores (with coax shields tied to DB23 Pins 16, 17, 18 and SCART Pins 13, 9, 5).
- TTL CSYNC Attenuator (Crucial for OSSC / RetroTINK): DB23 Pin 10 (/CSYNC) outputs 5 V TTL sync, whereas SCART Pin 20 expects 0.3–1.0 Vpp 75 Ω video-level sync. Always put a 330 Ω to 470 Ω resistor in series between DB23 Pin 10 and SCART Pin 20!
- RGB Mode Blanking (SCART Pin 16): Wire DB23 Pin 23 (+5 V) through a 150 Ω resistor to SCART Pin 16 (produces ~1.6 V across the TV's 75 Ω termination to force RGB mode).
- Stereo Audio: Connect two RCA plugs from the Amiga's rear Left and Right phono jacks into SCART Pin 6 (Left Audio In), SCART Pin 2 (Right Audio In), and SCART Pin 4 (Audio GND).
