Smiggy's World Newsletter — Stay in the Loop with New Posts, Projects & Updates

Big news from Smiggy's workshop in Rainhill — Smiggy's World now has its own newsletter! If you enjoy the blog posts, retro computing projects, electronics repair guides, or classic horror reviews on this site, you can now get notified whenever something new goes live.

What You'll Get

The newsletter is simple and straightforward — no spam, no daily emails, no marketing fluff. Just occasional updates when there's something worth sharing:

  • New blog posts — retro computing deep dives, electronics repair tutorials, classic horror reviews
  • Workshop updates — what's on the bench, upcoming restorations, new projects
  • Site news — new features, tools, and content added to Smiggy's World

How It Works

Subscribing takes about 10 seconds:

  1. Head to the newsletter page (or use the form in the site footer)
  2. Enter your first name and email address — that's all we need
  3. Check your inbox for a confirmation email and click the link to confirm
  4. Done — you'll receive updates whenever Smiggy has something new to share

The confirmation step (double opt-in) is there to make sure nobody can sign you up without your permission. If you didn't request it, just ignore the email and nothing happens.

Your Privacy Matters

I've built this newsletter system from scratch — it's not run through Mailchimp, SendGrid, or any third-party service. Everything stays on Smiggy's own server. Here's what that means for you:

  • We only store your email address and first name — nothing else
  • Your data is never shared with or sold to anyone
  • Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link — instant, no questions asked
  • You can also unsubscribe any time from the unsubscribe page
  • The whole system is fully GDPR compliant with a proper consent audit trail
  • Full details are in the Privacy Policy

Why a Newsletter?

Social media algorithms decide what you see and when you see it. A newsletter puts you in control — if Smiggy publishes a new restoration guide or a classic horror review, it lands in your inbox directly. No algorithm, no noise, just the content you signed up for.

Plus, I wanted to build something that respects your privacy. No tracking pixels, no open-rate analytics, no third-party data harvesting. Just a simple email from Smiggy to you.
